The Ceremony

Zachary and I share a lifelong bond that began when we were just five years old. As we grew up together, it only seemed fitting to involve someone close to our hearts in our special day – marrying each other. Our ceremony was an intimate and emotional experience, with Zachary’s brother Jason Feuerbach serving as the officiant. The personal touch he brought made it truly unforgettable. Additionally, Zachary’s sister brought tears to my eyes by reading the poignant poem ‘These Hands’ during the ceremony. I couldn’t have asked for a more meaningful or memorable way to say our vows.

The Flowers

The Flowers

With an abundance of blooms, I aimed to create a whimsical atmosphere that exuded romance and rustic charm. To achieve this vision, I enlisted the expertise of a family friend who teaches floral culture to high school students. Her guidance was invaluable, and I’m not sure what I would have done without her. Our floral arrangement featured an eclectic mix of café au lait, dahlias, hydrangeas, football mums, carnations, baby’s breath, dusty miller, and many more varieties. To add to the ambiance, we had three distinct types of centerpieces strategically placed throughout the lodge, with scattered blooms adding a touch of whimsy to every corner.

I’m fortunate to have two cherished moments from my special day that still bring a smile to my face. The first was the entire ceremony, which left me beaming with joy. The picturesque setting at Forest House Lodge took my breath away, and when Zachary and I exchanged our heartfelt vows, I felt overcome with emotion – it’s a moment that will remain eternally etched in my memory. The second occasion that stands out is the vibrant celebration that ensued after we tied the knot. Forest House Lodge truly knows how to throw a party! With its infectious energy and top-notch bar offerings, our guests had an absolute blast. We, too, revelled in the stress-free atmosphere, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the joy of the occasion.

Every aspect of our special day was a testament to the power of creativity and community. From the beautiful arch crafted by my uncle, to the wine barrels meticulously made by Zachary’s dad, and the countless other contributions from loved ones, it was clear that everyone had rolled up their sleeves to make our wedding a truly unique celebration. One of the highlights for me was the cookie bar, which I lovingly referred to as my ‘baby.’ What started as a family baking project turned into an incredible endeavor, with over 1,000 cookies baked by those closest to us. It not only delighted our guests but also served as a reminder of the love and effort that went into making our wedding day so unforgettable. And speaking of unforgettable, our ceremony site was nothing short of enchanting – a truly magical setting that left a lasting impression on all who attended.

The Music

The soundtrack for the wedding ceremony was a carefully curated selection of songs that held special meaning to the couple. As the bride made her way down the aisle, the processional music played – ‘Marry Me’ by Train set the tone for a romantic and joyful celebration. The shift from Train’s upbeat melody to the Piano Guys’ emotive rendition of ‘A Thousand Years’ perfectly captured the essence of their love story. Later, as the newlyweds made their way back down the aisle during the recessional, Hall and Oates’ iconic hit ‘Making My Dreams Come True’ got everyone in high spirits. The bride and groom’s first dance to George Strait’s poignant ballad ‘I Cross My Heart’ was a heartwarming moment that left many in attendance with goosebumps. Meanwhile, the groom’s heartfelt tribute to his mom during their special dance to ‘Mama’s Song’ by The Band Perry brought tears of joy to her eyes. And as the bride exchanged sweet nothings with her dad during their dance to Nora Jones’ lovely rendition of ‘Forever Young’, it was clear that this day would be etched in their memories forever.
