Sweet Farm Wedding With Vintage Diy Details

Sweet Farm Wedding With Vintage Diy Details

What makes Andrea and John’s farm wedding truly special is the thoughtful attention to detail they brought to every aspect of their big day In an era where weddings often feel like a competition to spend the most money or keep up with societal expectations, this couple managed to create a celebration that was authentic, sustainable, and full of personal touches Their dear friend Sarah Sidwell Photography captured it all beautifully.

One of the things that sets this wedding apart is its commitment to reuse and recycling From the handmade furniture they’ll use again to the vintage crockery given new life, every element has been carefully considered Even the edible favors were sourced from their own farm, making for a truly unique and meaningful experience.

The dessert-only reception was another stroke of genius, with an abundance of sweet treats, lemonade, tea, and cozy blankets on hand to keep everyone warm on what might have otherwise been a chilly day And let’s not forget the gorgeous gown, cute cardigan, dapper groom attire, and stunning blooms that all came together to create a look that was at once beautiful, personal, and super chic.

Envisioning a whimsical fusion of pastel hues, lush florals, and warm golden tones, I pictured a charmingly rustic and romantic farm wedding that exuded vintage charm.

The Flowers

The bouquet I chose featured a stunning combination of pink roses, complemented by a few cream-colored mini roses for added texture and visual interest The bridesmaids’ bouquets were designed with a similar color palette in mind, incorporating regular and small pink and cream roses alongside pink berries to add a pop of color The boutonnières were expertly crafted with small pink roses and pink berries, creating a beautiful and understated touch for the gentlemen’s attire.

I was absolutely thrilled with how the flowers turned out – elegant, timeless, and effortlessly chic From the start, I knew I wanted pink roses to be the focal point of my arrangements, and they exceeded my expectations in every way The colors were a perfect match for our wedding theme, and working with our florist was an absolute pleasure.

Our centerpieces took on a charming rustic charm, featuring a simple yet elegant arrangement of pink and white roses nestled within mason jars, milk glass vases, and vintage china pieces that held sentimental value.

The Attire

I opted for a strapless gown adorned with a stunning beaded floral belt and a flowing layered tulle skirt, paired with a minimalist headpiece and rugged cowboy boots Meanwhile, I instructed my bridesmaids to don pink dresses accompanied by brown boots and to add an extra layer of warmth with cream-colored sweaters due to the chilly weather My groom, John, sported khakis, a blue plaid button-up shirt, and a matching vest.

The groomsmen, on the other hand, chose khakis and various shades of blue button-up shirts, completing their attire.

The Refreshments

In lieu of a traditional reception, we opted for a dessert-only extravaganza that catered to diverse tastes and dietary requirements Cupcakes, doughnuts, and an assortment of fresh fruit provided a delightful sweet-tooth fix, with gluten-free and dairy-free options available for those with specific needs To create a cozy atmosphere on a crisp day, we set up fire pits outside, accompanied by a s’mores station where guests could indulge in the classic campfire treat.

To quench thirst, we offered refreshing glasses of lemonade and sweet tea, perfect complements to the sugary delights.

As a thoughtful gesture, we gifted each of our wedding guests with a half dozen farm fresh eggs from John’s farm, allowing them to take home a small memento of the special day To replace the traditional guest book, my mother-in-law contributed by carefully cutting out quilt squares for each attendee to sign, which she’ll later sew together into a personalized quilt for us to treasure.

Additionally, she kindly offered several of her handmade quilts that we could wrap up in during the ceremony and reception, providing warmth and comfort on what was a crisp autumn day.

The Photography

The Photography

My dear friend Sarah Sidwell is an exceptional photographer who has had the pleasure of capturing many special moments with me over the years Our photography escapades have been nothing short of exhilarating, filling us both with joy and laughter Initially, I had considered asking Sarah to be a bridesmaid rather than behind the lens, but after careful contemplation, we collectively decided that her photographic expertise would be the better choice.

This decision proved to be a wise one, as we ended up spending a significant portion of our special day together, creating an abundance of cherished memories Her talents at Sarah Sidwell Photography are truly remarkable.

The Honeymoon

The Honeymoon

Our family’s lake house retreat in Georgia proved to be the perfect haven for relaxation and rejuvenation following the wedding celebrations The serene atmosphere allowed us to unwind and recharge without any pressure of a rigid itinerary

We indulged in activities like hiking, exploring local antique shops, discovering nearby cities, fishing, grilling out and simply enjoying each other’s company.

Our goal was to take it easy, soak up the tranquility, and create memories that would last a lifetime.

Favourite Moments

Our special day was a true reflection of who we are as a couple, thanks to the countless hours we put into planning and the meaningful contributions from our families We made it a point to invest in items that would remain with us for years to come and repurpose many things we already owned

A significant portion of our wedding decor and elements were made possible by cherished family heirlooms.

I’m grateful to have inherited numerous treasures from my grandparents, which allowed me to incorporate them into the celebration My grandmother’s antique china, pews from both our families’ histories, furniture from my great-grandmother, and even glass insulators collected by my grandfather over the years all played a role in making our wedding unique

At its core, our wedding was about celebrating with those closest to us – friends and family.

One of the most memorable moments for me was when the heartfelt speeches began at our reception It started with a prayer from my cousin, followed by words of wisdom from my bridesmaids, photographer, and John’s best man

The sincerity and love in every speech left both John and me in tears, grateful for the outpouring of kindness and support from those we hold dear We felt truly blessed to have such a loving community surrounding us.

We were also touched by the thoughtful words spoken during our reception, which served as a beautiful reminder of the love and commitment we share with each other.
