Our Love Story

Our Love Story
Our Love Story

The love story of Joel and Victoria began at a young age, with the two holding hands on the bus in secondary school; however, their romance was put on hold when Victoria moved schools at 13. Thirteen years later, Facebook rekindled the flame, allowing them to reconnect. The proposal, orchestrated by Joel, was an unforgettable experience. He gathered all the children and teachers from the primary school where Victoria worked and had them assemble in the playground.

As Victoria stood on the balcony overlooking the playground, they shouted in unison: ‘Will you marry him?’ as Joel walked across the balcony to her and dropped to one knee.

The largest expenditure, unsurprisingly, was on food, which clocked in at around £5,000. However, a significant portion of that went towards hiring a Jaguar E-type for Joel as a surprise, courtesy of my own indulgence. Normally, our wedding vehicle would have been my Uncle’s trusty old Land Rover; instead, we spared no expense in making the experience unforgettable. The total cost of the wedding, including my dress, came to around £5,000.

Surrounded by lush greenery, this picturesque organic farm boasted a unique charm. Every aspect of the property, from the rustic fields to the hand-built structures, exuded a laid-back, creative vibe that was simply captivating. Guests were treated to comfortable accommodations in the farm’s stays, while the central barn was thoughtfully transformed to reflect our personal style.

Johnny Clegg’s iconic song ‘Dela’ holds a special place in many hearts, including mine. The South African artist’s childhood classic is a masterclass in capturing the essence of passionate love and youthful exuberance. The infectious energy of ‘Dela’ is undeniable, with its driving beat and soaring melody evoking memories of carefree summers and joyous moments shared with loved ones.

During our visit to Croatia, we had the pleasure of staying in some truly stunning hotels while luxury accommodations aren’t typically our go-to choice for a holiday, it was wonderful to indulge in a little pampering and take in the breathtaking scenery and delicious local cuisine. After all, sometimes you just need a chance to unwind and recharge; a setting where you can do just that – relax and reflect on the details of the special day – is truly ideal.

The rustic charm of this barn wedding really stole the show for me, with its beautiful family-style catering adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere, and can we talk about that incredible hay bale wall? It was such a sweet touch; the vintage teacups were another lovely detail that added to the overall aesthetic. I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Matt & Ester, as well as Victoria & Joel for sharing their special day with us.
