Thomas and Kaiti’s wedding at Barndiva in California is a masterclass in effortless elegance. The union of this stylish couple is nothing short of magical, with Thomas exuding suave sophistication in his tailored attire. Meanwhile, Kaiti shines in her exquisite Reem Acra wedding dress, boasting a grey cap sleeve design and an elaborate, bohemian-inspired headpiece that perfectly complements her blush pink heels.
The bride’s understated glamour is elevated by kohl-lined eyes, a subtle pink lip gloss, and lush ombre curls, resulting in truly ravishing beauty. Traci Griffin Photography did an incredible job of capturing the love, joy, and style of this unforgettable day, which will undoubtedly leave you spellbound.
The Style
When planning our special day, we didn’t have a specific theme or inspiration in mind. What we did know is that we wanted our wedding to exude effortless elegance and a relaxed California vibe. Our color palette was intentionally neutral, allowing us to focus on the finer details. As fashion enthusiasts, my husband and I both value personal style.
In a delightful twist of fate, not knowing what the other would wear meant that we essentially coordinated perfectly without ever needing to discuss it – a true testament to our harmonious partnership.

The Photography
When reviewing Barndiva’s recommended vendors, I decided to prioritize those who were intimately familiar with the unique space. Among them, Traci Griffin Photography stood out as my top choice – her photographs exuded an artistic flair that departed from traditional wedding photography, instead evoking a sense of inspiration and creativity.
The Refreshments
I chose Barndiva for my wedding not just because of its picturesque setting, but also for the exceptional culinary experience it offers. The prospect of indulging in a delectable meal, carefully crafted by the venue’s chefs, was too enticing to resist. Although I was thrilled at the prospect of enjoying a sit-down feast with my loved ones, my excitement got the better of me and I barely savored any bites.
The pre-fix menu allowed each guest to select their choices upon being seated, adding an element of personalized delight to the already impressive spread.
The Flowers
When it came to selecting flowers, I opted for arrangements featuring blooms with a soft, delicate appearance and minimal color palette. Our choices likely included varieties like roses and peonies that possess a subtle, romantic charm as someone not particularly knowledgeable about flowers, my primary concern was avoiding any that boasted bold structure or vibrant hues.
Meanwhile, our special touches included succulent installations bearing our initials, which were initially displayed in the ceremony space before being relocated to the back of our chairs for dinner. In a similar vein, the place cards and favors we chose featured tiny succulents nestled within miniature terracotta pots.
The Music
We curated a carefully considered soundtrack for our special day, opting for emotional resonance over traditional wedding fare. The processional song that set the tone for our ceremony was Van Morrison’s hauntingly beautiful ‘Crazy Love’. As we exchanged our vows and became husband and wife, Jack Johnson’s laid-back vibes in ‘Better Together’ accompanied us out of the ceremony space.
Later, under the twinkling lights of the reception hall, The XX’s atmospheric indie-pop gem ‘Angles’ provided the perfect backdrop for our first dance as a married couple.
Favourite Moments
As I emerged from the backdrop of tranquility, the atmosphere was alive with anticipation. The collective gasp that followed was a testament to the surprise and joy that filled the air in those fleeting moments. I savored heart-to-hearts with loved ones – including my grandfather – and stole glances at my new husband, relishing the intimacy of our private moment.
These cherished memories will remain etched in my mind, a treasure trove of emotions to be revisited whenever I think back on my special day.
Advice For Other Couples
As you celebrate this special day, remember to let go of overthinking and simply have fun. The outcome will be just as wonderful regardless of what unfolds. Kaiti and Thomas, your beautiful union is certainly one for the books; I’m already envisioning it making an appearance on my Best of 2014 post at year’s end. Until then, stay tuned for more musings.
