Romantic Military Wedding (Planned In Just 8 Weeks!)

Romantic Military Wedding (Planned In Just 8 Weeks!)

The allure of a military wedding is undeniable. The couple’s journey to the altar often involves overcoming challenges, making sacrifices, and building a strong foundation. This adds an extra layer of romance and celebration to their special day. When we came across Kendall’s stunning Air Force-themed nuptials with Garrett, captured beautifully by Kati Rosado Photography, we couldn’t wait to share their love story.

And that was before we discovered they had planned the entire event in just eight weeks. The result is a wedding that exudes naval-inspired charm and DIY flair, showcasing the couple’s resourcefulness and creativity. Kendall looked breathtaking in her Oleg Cassini gown with long sleeves, complete with a succulent bouquet that stole our hearts. We’re also fans of brides with bangs, and Kendall nailed it.

Garrett’s dashing formals added a touch of sophistication to the proceedings, inspiring the overall aesthentic. The military dress code brings back old-school movie vibes, which only adds to the romance. When we asked Kendall and Garrett to sum up their wedding in three words, they replied without hesitation: ‘Sweetest Day Ever.’

Patti from Buds Etc brought our wedding flowers to life, exceeding our expectations with her stunning arrangements. Her collaborative approach ensured she understood our vision perfectly, delivering a result that truly reflected our desires. The bouquet featured an array of gorgeous blooms, including roses, eucalyptus, blue thistle, peonies, berries, and evergreen.

As someone who enjoys gardening and growing succulents, I was thrilled to see Patti incorporate some of the largest and most impressive specimens into the arrangement. The pièce de résistance came when I took home the bouquets after the wedding and successfully propagated cuttings that have since grown into new, thriving succulent plants.

I was drawn to Kati’s outdoor lighting expertise and the organic feel of her photographs, which exude a sense of naturalness rather than stiffness or artificiality. Her decision to incorporate film into some of our photos was also a major selling point for me; I’m particularly fond of her ‘first look’ concept, which offered an intimate, pre-ceremony moment for my fiancé and me to cherish.

Beyond her technical skills, Kati’s warm personality and ease of planning made working with her a genuine pleasure. Without hesitation, I would recommend her services to anyone seeking a top-notch photographer.

Living in historic districts has always held a special charm for me, and the Porcher House is a dream come true. This stunning 1916 coquina home on the riverfront exudes a timeless elegance that’s hard to resist. One of its greatest advantages is its versatility as a wedding venue; imagine having your ceremony on the picturesque steps, followed by a reception indoors where guests can mingle and dance, and in the background, the serene river provides a soothing soundtrack.

This intimate setting makes it an ideal choice for smaller weddings too, as with limited guest capacity, you’ll never feel overwhelmed or like you’re missing out on the magic of your special day.

The soundtrack for our special day was a harmonious blend of classical and contemporary tunes. For the processional, we chose Pachelbel’s Canon in D, its timeless beauty and elegance setting the tone for the celebration to come. As we recessed from the ceremony, Sigur Ros’ emotive piece Hoppipolla filled the air, its soaring melodies and atmospheric soundscapes evoking a sense of joy and liberation.

And as we took our first dance as a married couple, Two of the Lucky One’s The Droge and Summer’s Blend provided the perfect accompaniment to our romantic waltz.

The Refreshments

The Refreshments

We kicked off our celebration with a cocktail hour, complete with drinks, hors d’oeuvres, dancing, and photo opportunities. For dinner, we opted for a buffet-style meal that catered to everyone’s tastes. When I asked Garrett about his dessert preferences, he playfully replied that all he wanted was apple pie. Given my own desire to deviate from the traditional wedding cake, I saw an opportunity to mix things up.

So, we went with a variety of sweet treats, including some delicious offerings from Oleanders. Of course, we couldn’t resist the classic charm of a one-layer white wedding cake, which we proudly cut and shared as a symbol of our union.
