Our Love Story
It was a chance encounter with mutual friends in the autumn of 2008 that brought us together. Fast forward two years, Carrie took a leap of faith and proposed to Clare at their special spot on Lake Michigan’s shores in August of 2010. As we exchanged our vows, one phrase summed up the essence of our wedding day: personal, intimate, and above all, a celebration of joy – exactly what we had envisioned for our big day.
The Ceremony
Our special day was made even more unforgettable thanks to the efforts of our dear friend Liz LaTour, who had the honor of officiating our ceremony. The atmosphere was further enriched by the incredible music provided by none other than Grammy-nominated Edie Carey and Rose Cousins. But what truly made the experience stand out was when Carrie surprised Clare with a heartfelt song, commissioned especially for the occasion and performed by Edie. This touching gesture added an extra layer of joy and sentimentality to our already perfect day.

Taylor’s attention to detail extended to every aspect of the gathering, whereupon the carefully curated flowers, idyllic setting, and exquisite cuisine proved more than enough to impress.
Favourite Moments
While it’s hard to pinpoint just a few highlights from our special day, I’d be remiss if I didn’t give a nod to the unforgettable speeches delivered by my beloved dads. Their words still bring a smile to my face as I reflect on that joyous occasion.
What made our wedding even more unique was the fact that I was pregnant at the time – entering my second trimester, no less. It was an incredible experience sharing this news with loved ones during the wedding week. And let’s be real, how many lesbian weddings can boast a ‘shotgun’ element? The surprise and excitement were palpable as we celebrated this new chapter in our lives.
