As part of Bridesmaid Week, I’m thrilled to share this wedding story featuring a truly fabulous group of bridesmaids. The lovely Devin and Kyle exchanged vows in a beautiful ceremony that centered around the meaning of marriage. Capturing all the intimate moments and boho charm was Jessie Holloway Photography. What stood out about this wedding was its understated elegance: from Devin’s stunning off-the-shoulder bohemian dress from Daughters of Simone (who are also creating my own wedding dress.
) to Kyle’s guy’s smart take on rustic attire with tweed ties and suspenders from Etsy, every detail felt thoughtful and deliberate. The bridesmaids stole the show in their mix-and-match white lace dresses and eclectic accessories. But what truly made this wedding special was its focus on the couple’s love story, surrounded by their closest friends and family. It’s a powerful reminder that weddings are ultimately about the people involved, not the decorations or flowers.

Our Wedding Day
As I prepared for my special day, my goal was to keep things simple and stress-free. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of planning a wedding, but I wanted to focus on what truly matters – the union of me and my husband. We decided to keep our celebration intimate, inviting just 40 close friends and family members to join us after the ceremony. We headed to Kyle’s parents’ backyard for a lively reception that was the perfect blend of fun and relaxation.
When it came to decor, I fell in love with the bohemian wedding aesthetic. I opted for a natural color palette and an abundance of lush greenery to create a serene and whimsical atmosphere.
The Venue
The significance of this spot runs deep; it’s where my parents exchanged their vows. Moreover, our love story began by chance at the lake, making the venue’s stunning lake view a poignant reminder of how far we’ve come.
The Ceremony
Having a family member, particularly my father who’s a preacher, take part in our wedding ceremony added an unparalleled level of intimacy and sentimentality. As he led the proceedings, I felt grateful to have shared this special moment with him, and it’s a memory that will always be treasured. The experience was nothing short of emotional, as having someone so close to me play such an integral role only made the day more meaningful.
The Music
For the special moments at a wedding, a thoughtful selection of songs can make all the difference. Our couple opted for a romantic processional that featured Ellie Goulding’s ‘How Long Will I Love You?’ and The Piano Guys’ beautiful rendition of ‘A Thousand Years.’ This harmonious blend set the tone for an unforgettable ceremony.
As the newlyweds recessed from the altar, they were accompanied by the iconic sounds of The Beach Boys, ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice,’ a classic that perfectly captured their joyous mood. For their first dance as a married couple, they chose another Beach Boys hit, ‘God Only Knows,’ which was just as lovely. Meanwhile, the father-daughter and mother-son dances were made even more special with Tom Petty’s ‘Wildflowers’ – a timeless choice that honored the bond between family members.
The Refreshments
To cater to a variety of tastes and accommodate the late-night snacking that often accompanies dance parties, we opted for a selection of finger foods that our guests could easily devour as they took breaks from dancing. Our goal was to provide a range of options that would satisfy everyone’s cravings without compromising on flavor or convenience.
Advice for Other Couples
While wedding planning can be overwhelming, it’s easy to get caught up in the details – from decorations to catering to florals. But let’s not forget what this day is truly about: the union of two loving souls. It’s essential to remember that at the end of the day, the marriage you’re celebrating is the real focus. The rest – though enjoyable and important – should serve as a backdrop for your special moment.
As time flies by, you’ll want to look back on your wedding day with warm, fuzzy feelings rather than stress and anxiety. Take a deep breath, soak in every second of that unforgettable day, and make it truly yours.
The Honeymoon
We embarked on an unforgettable journey to Royal Plantation in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, which left a lasting impression on us. The trip was nothing short of exceptional and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to other couples seeking a truly special experience. What resonated with me was the harmonious blend of cool, eclectic styling that makes a bold statement, juxtaposed against the serene, stripped-back ambiance that unfolds throughout the day.
This unique combination lends itself to a deeply meaningful and romantic atmosphere. I must say, Devin and Kyle’s proposal story is particularly endearing. The way they shared their love with us was genuinely heartwarming. We extend our gratitude to Jessie Holloway Photography for capturing this breathtaking bohemian wedding and allowing us to be a part of it. Our appreciation also goes out to Devin and Kyle for entrusting us with the privilege of sharing their special day.
