It’s my pleasure to share this charming and sophisticated wedding celebration with you today. As an editor at Wedding Sparrow – a must-have blog for any wedding enthusiast – Sara brought her own unique style to her special day, which was beautifully captured by Debs Ivelja Photography, whose romantic images have been a constant source of inspiration for me since my own wedding.
Sara and Andy chose a soft, delicate color scheme featuring ivory, blush pink, and grey, complemented by the natural beauty of fresh greenery and spiky succulents, as well as the elegant touch of mercury glass. To add to the relaxed, organic atmosphere, rustic details such as twine-wrapped place settings, chalkboard signs, and locally sourced cuisine were incorporated throughout the day.
I was just as thrilled as their adorable little flower girl when I first laid eyes on Sara’s stunning lace wedding dress (see photo 7). That fishtail is truly a showstopper.
From The Bride…
Our wedding day was a celebration of our unique personalities, and we made a conscious effort to stray from traditional norms that didn’t resonate with us. We wanted the day to reflect our individuality, so we opted out of certain customs that felt forced or arbitrary. For instance, we skipped the formal receiving line and allowed the guys to dress in their own style rather than adhering to strict formal attire.
I also took a bold step by having my mother walk me down the aisle, as she played a significant role in shaping who I am today. This personal touch allowed us to create a truly meaningful and authentic celebration that reflected our love and commitment to each other.
The Photography
We were meticulous in our search for the perfect photographer, seeking someone who didn’t just view wedding photography as a 9-to-5 job. When I stumbled upon Debs on Twitter, we were thrilled to discover that photography was her true passion – not just limited to wedding assignments. Our initial meeting with Debs was so enjoyable that we found ourselves chatting for three hours straight. Today, we’re honored to count her as a close friend and can’t sing her praises enough.
In fact, our wedding guests were so impressed that some even inquired about booking her for their own special days – a testament to her exceptional talent.
Advice For Other Couples
I was consumed by the world of wedding blogs (in fact, I even started my own) and social media platforms like Pinterest before the big day. These resources not only provided me with endless inspiration but also opened up a vast network of suppliers that went beyond what I would typically find at local wedding fairs. The key takeaway is that you shouldn’t be limited by your geographical location.
Any vendor worth their salt will travel to accommodate your needs, as was the case with our photographer, makeup artist, and florist, who all came from afar to make our day truly unforgettable. My parting wisdom: Keep the focus on what matters most – your love story. It’s easy to get swept up in the whirlwind of decisions that need to be made, but remember, your wedding should be an extension of yourselves, not a fleeting trend.
That way, when you look back on it years from now, you’ll still feel like it was genuinley yours. Thanks again to Sara and Andy for sharing their special day with us, and to Debs Ivelja Photography for capturing the beauty of our celebration.
