Kate and Adam’s Byron Bay wedding was a masterclass in rustic elegance, boasting a chic black, white, and champagne color scheme that set the tone for an intimate celebration. The bride’s stunning jet-black locks stole the show, while her grandmother had lovingly hand-stitched a lace wedding dress that was truly one-of-a-kind. Meanwhile, the groomsmen donned classic black suits, while the bridesmaids added a touch of whimsy in their ombre-hued blush pink gowns with subtle sparkle.
But what really took center stage was the special song written by the groom just for the bride – both musicians, they shared a romantic moment that left no doubt about their love. The pièce de résistance: Chinese takeout boxes wrapped in burlap and lace, adding a playful touch to an already unforgettable day. With thanks to Corné & Lara Photography for capturing every precious detail.
From The Bride…
Our wedding celebration was deeply rooted in vintage, rustic charm, evoking a sense of homestead warmth. A champagne-inspired colour palette provided a soft backdrop for subtle hints of pastel hues. We deliberately opted for an understated affair, eschewing grandeur for a more intimate gathering. With just 50 close friends and family joining us, the atmosphere was akin to a cozy family reunion.
By hosting both our ceremony and reception at the same picturesque venue, we eliminated travel stress and enjoyed a serene, relaxed pace throughout the weekend.
Décor & Details
As we exchanged vows at the Bangalow Guest House, it was clear that the venue’s natural beauty didn’t require any additional decoration. We opted for an outdoor ceremony on the lush lawn, where a hessian and burlap aisle added a touch of rustic charm. To create a sense of intimacy, we designed a square frame for the altar and draped white netting across it to resemble a ‘window’ effect. Nearby trees were adorned with delicate white paper lanterns, casting a soft glow over the proceedings.
Inside the homestead, I crafted a unique ‘family tree’ by gathering wedding photos from our parents and grandparents, creating a meaningful connection between our past and present. As a sweet gesture to our guests, we placed pashminas and bubble blowers on each chair, adding a whimsical touch to the ceremony.
Special Moments
As I walked down the aisle, the beautiful violin piece, penned by our dear friend Josh Greene, echoed through the atmosphere. Although he couldn’t be present due to his location in the US, Josh’s dedication shone through as he recorded a stunning professional track and sent it to us. The emotional resonance of the music was palpable, making the moment all the more unforgettable. Later, as we sealed our love with the signing of the wedding certificate, another meaningful surprise awaited us.
Another song, specially crafted by Adam – a talented musician – for me, filled the air through the sound system, further solidifying the significance of this special day.
