It’s not uncommon for certain wedding photos to leave us breathless, evoking a sense of intimacy and connection with the couple, even if we’ve never met them before. For me, these pictures by With Love And Embers had that effect in spades. The love story of Lauren and Todd, beautifully captured at their intimate garden wedding, is nothing short of captivating. From the tender moments to the joyous celebrations, there’s a wealth of emotion and authenticity on display.

As someone who appreciates understated elegance, I was particularly taken with the couple’s choice of a subtle grey and yellow colour scheme, paired with classic yet modern wedding dresses and a pop of vintage flair in the form of bold red lip color.

Our wedding had an enchanting blend of vintage elegance and casual charm. We deliberately chose to get married in the city, seeking a unique space that balanced seclusion with accessibility. The result was a picturesque setting reminiscent of a hidden oasis. Our core color scheme revolved around yellow and grey, yet we couldn’t resist adding bursts of other hues to create a visually dynamic atmosphere.

As a self-proclaimed vintage enthusiast, I was determined to embody the classic charm of the 1950s on my wedding day. From the moment my husband proposed, I knew I wanted to wear a short dress that exuded elegance and sophistication. After discovering the perfect design on a bridal website, I was smitten – it was love at first sight.

To complete my look, I chose a vibrant pair of shoes that matched the playful spirit of the era, and finished it off with a bold red lip color courtesy of Mac’s Ruby Woo. Meanwhile, my bridesmaids opted for their own charcoal-hued cocktail dresses, despite being 300 miles apart – a testament to our harmonious bond. They too added a pop of sunshine with their bright yellow shoes, creating a unified yet distinct visual ensemble that perfectly complemented the overall aesthetic.

The centerpiece of my arrangement was a harmonious blend of white roses, garden roses, craspedia – affectionately known as ‘billy balls’ – ranunculus, and dusty miller. In my quest for sustainability, I discovered an eco-conscious florist in the city who expertly crafted the bouquet using seasonal and locally sourced flowers.

As I exchanged vows with the love of my life, my dad’s influence was palpable. The sweet serenade of Van Morrison’s Sweet Thing accompanied me down the aisle, a nod to his enduring musical legacy. But it wasn’t just the ceremony where his impact shone through – our father-daughter dance was set to Tupelo Honey, a nostalgic choice that held sentimental value for us both. You see, my childhood nickname ‘Bee’ stemmed from this very song, courtesy of the iconic line ‘She’s as sweet as Tupelo Honey’.

It made the moment all the more special, as we twirled and swayed together. To encourage the entire gathering to let loose and dance, our DJ spun a medley of Motown classics. And what a sight it was – even my husband’s aunt, who hadn’t danced in 20 years, couldn’t resist the infectious beats, joining in with her own partner for an impromptu celebration.
