As we share Cassandra & James’ modern Manhattan wedding, it’s hard not to think of the significance of September 11th. This date is always a poignant reminder of New York City’s resilience and the importance of love and celebration in the face of adversity. The city that never sleeps has a way of captivating hearts, whether it’s through personal experiences or cinematic depictions. For Cassandra & James, their special day was held at The Skylark, a trendy rooftop cocktail bar that set the tone for an sophisticated and modern celebration. With its stunning orchid arrangements, exquisite food, and understated mixed metallic and glass decor, the entire day was a seamless blend of elegance and glamour.

As I tend to deviate from conventional expectations, I found myself captivated by the unorthodox approach of A Guy + A Girl Photography. Their unique aesthetic, which sets them apart from traditional wedding photography, exudes a playful, modern charm that immediately grabbed my attention.

When it came to the paper goods for our special day, we opted for bespoke designs to match our unique style. The options included custom invitations, escort cards, table numbers, menus, and programs. Initially, I had my heart set on a NYC skyline motif, but unfortunately, couldn’t find one that truly resonated with me. That’s when I discovered a talented stationer on Etsy who was more than happy to take on the challenge of creating custom designs.

Their solution was a charming, quirky New York City-inspired theme that incorporated iconic landmarks and symbols. The attention to detail didn’t stop there – they even designed starred envelope liners that added an extra touch of whimsy.

As we exchanged vows, the sweet sounds of ‘Marry Me’ by Train filled the air during the processional, setting a romantic tone for the day. Later, as we made our way down the aisle for the recessional, the Beatles’ iconic ‘Here Comes the Sun’ played in the background, leaving us beaming with joy. For our first dance as newlyweds, our DJ surprised us with Seal’s energetic cover of ‘Stand by Me’. We chose this upbeat track to add a playful touch to the traditional slow love song.

Although we may not have been the next stars of Dancing with the Stars, our guests seemed to enjoy our endearing effort.
