We ventured into the picturesque English countryside to celebrate the joyous union of Richard and Sarah at their charming country house wedding in Essex. The talented Laura from Babb Photo skillfully captured the happiness and excitement that filled every moment of this special day. The ceremony was a heartwarming, personal affair, which set the tone for an unforgettable celebration.

Guests were treated to a vintage ride on a bright red Routemaster bus, complete with nostalgic tickets, as well as refreshing gin and tonics in the garden. The attention to detail was impressive, with numerous DIY elements adding to the wedding’s warm and welcoming atmosphere. As the sun began to set, the party truly got underway with a lively dance floor and oversized light-up letters that added an extra layer of magic to the evening.

Richard and Sarah’s love story is one of personal connection, beauty, and joy, which they perfectly encapsulated in their description of their wedding as ‘Personal, Pretty, and Fun’. We couldn’t agree more.

When it came time to find the perfect photographer for our special day, we were fortunate enough to be introduced to Laura by another talented photographer in the industry. Upon reviewing her portfolio, we were thoroughly impressed and quickly set up a meeting to learn more about her work.

We were thrilled to discover that not only is Laura an incredibly skilled photographer, but she’s also a joy to work with – able to strike the perfect balance between being fun and approachable while still maintaining the highest level of professionalism at all times. In fact, we couldn’t have asked for anyone better to capture our wedding memories, and we’re grateful that her talent and expertise were there to preserve the special moments of our big day.

A kaleidoscope of flowers adorned our wedding celebration, with a focus on vibrant blooms in season Shrinking Violet’s Nicky and Lorraine expertly interpreted this creative brief, presenting an array of colors that delighted us. Among my personal favorites were the ranunculus and alliums, whose delicate beauty left a lasting impression as we envisioned a visually stunning wedding; flowers played a pivotal role in achieving our goal.

To complement these gorgeous arrangements, we embarked on a months-long crafting journey – from designing bespoke invitations and menus to creating custom table plans, glass jars, photographs, and picture frames. This project allowed me to indulge my passion for arts and crafts, a rare indulgence that I savored.

Rich oversaw the favors – an array of delightful treats that brought joy to children at birthday parties. Instead of traditional goodie bags, he filled party favors with glow sticks, sweet treats, and a token toy, taking care to make sure they looked visually appealing. In a creative twist, I repurposed them as place settings, adding an extra touch of whimsy to the celebration.

As we took to the dance floor for our first dance, the sweet melody of Ellie Goulding’s rendition of Your Song filled the air. A song that held a special place in our hearts, it added a touch of romance without being too over-the-top. Meanwhile, Paddy from Disco Wed brought the party to life with his expert skills. Not only did he provide the perfect background tunes during our reception, but he also set up an infectious Disco Shed for the evening’s dancing extravaganza.

Our wedding was a true reflection of who we are as individuals, making it an incredibly unique and memorable experience. We’ve never been ones to follow the status quo, which is why we opted for the ‘I Do’ lights – a first for our friends and family. But what really stole the show were the unexpected moments that had everyone in stitches.

There was the time we got reprimanded during the ceremony for being too caught up in each other’s eyes to notice anything else, and who could forget when our wedding photos were hilariously photobombed by a curious cat? These little quirks only added to the joy and love that filled the air on our special day.
