Elegant Purple Wedding At The Salt Lake City Temple

As we kick off the weekend, let’s indulge in a delightful Utah wedding, where love, style, and a dash of purple reign supreme. Kristina Curtis’ stunning photography brings this special day to life. From a young age, Darienne has been enamored with the majestic hue of purple, thankfully, her fiancé Devin shares her passion, allowing their wedding to be an homage to all things royal.

The harmonious blend of pure white lace, soft grey, and rich purple creates an atmosphere both elegant and sophisticated. This was a true family affair, with Darienne’s mother, sisters, and closest friends and family members lending a hand. What caught our attention were the exquisite wooden centrepieces, engraved with the couple’s names and wedding date – a thoughtful touch that adds warmth to the celebration.

Additionally, we can’t get enough of the s’mores bar, delectable bite-sized treats, whimsical florals, and heavenly heels donned by the bride (in a lovely shade of purple, naturally).

The wedding color palette was a beautiful blend of purple and grey, with the former holding a special significance for me as it’s long been my favorite hue. As I’m an independent soul, I decided to eschew professional planners in favor of enlisting the help of my loved ones – my mom and sisters were instrumental in bringing my vision to life. Together, we scoured Pinterest for inspiration, consolidating our ideas into a cohesive whole.

My mom’s creative flair shone through in her design of the centerpieces and construction of the s’mores bar box, while my sisters worked together to find matching shoes for me and my bridesmaids – mine a regal purple, theirs a sophisticated grey. Rounding out the team was my good friend Danyelle Plowman, who lent her expertise to create my flawless makeup look.

To create my wedding bouquet, I carefully selected a mix of flowers that reflected the theme and colors we chose for the big day. The bouquet featured a combination of purple stock, Lisianthus, lavender stock, tulips, and roses – each one adding its own unique touch to the overall design. Meanwhile, my bridesmaids’ bouquets were a lovely contrast, featuring white roses and lisianthus that complemented their dresses perfectly.

For my husband’s boutonniere, I chose a single purple Lisianthus flower that added a pop of color and personality to his attire. The groomsmen, including our dads and grandpas, wore lavender rose boutonnieres that tied in nicely with the overall aesthentic. Our moms’ wristlets were adorned with a mix of lavender roses, purple stock, and baby’s breath, while our grandmas’ corsages featured elegant arrangements of lavender roses and baby’s breath – adding a touch of elegance to their outfits.

The memories of my wedding day are still as vivid as ever, but it’s the thoughtful touches that make them truly special. My stunning wedding dress was designed by Allure Bridals, and I’ll never forget the significance of wearing the same veil my mom wore on her big day; it felt like a beautiful family heirloom being passed down through generations. I opted for a bold and harmonious color scheme for my bridal party, with purple and grey being the perfect combination.

Each of my bridesmaids chose their own dresses, which not only made it easier for me but also resulted in a unique and cohesive look; I was thrilled to see how well their dresses complemented each other. The ladies’ attire didn’t stop at dresses, though – we all wore purple and grey shoes to tie everything together. The gentlemen, on the other hand, donned grey attire with a pop of purple from our fathers’ ties and groomsmen’s accessories.

It was amazing to see how everyone came together to create such a stylish and meaningful celebration.

I opted for Kristina Curitis’ expertise in photography, having been impressed by her exceptional skills. She has had the privilege of capturing our family’s milestones, including our senior pictures on high school graduation and subsequent family portraits. The videographer we chose was highly recommended by friends, and after reviewing his portfolio online, we were blown away by the quality of his work.

We’re absolutely thrilled with the final product, which provides a unique and intimate perspective on our special day.

The DIY element was omnipresent at this gathering; with almost every aspect being a do-it-yourself project. From the sweet treats of the s’mores bar to the artistic flair of the calligraphy chalk boards, right down to the creative centrepieces, party favors, and mantle decorations – everything had a personal touch, crafted by the hosts or guests themselves.

The memory of our wedding remains etched in my mind as a serene and purple-hued celebration, where every moment felt tranquil and stress-free. The fact that we held our reception and wedding on separate days was instrumental in creating this atmosphere of calmness. Additionally, having my sisters so heavily involved in the planning process made a significant difference for me.

Their help in finding and securing various elements was invaluable, allowing me to focus on enjoying the experience rather than worrying about the logistics. I feel truly fortunate to have such a loving and supportive family, as well as having married into an amazing one. The sense of unity and love that permeated our special day will always be cherished.

To satisfy our guests’ sweet and savory cravings, we offered an impressive array of treats, including gooey s’mores, rich hot chocolate, decadent Russian creme, light-as-air chocolate mousse cups, bite-sized fruit tartlets, tangy lemon chiffon, fizzy Italian sodas, creamy tomato basil bisque shooters, and a delightful assortment of mini grilled cheese sandwiches.

The variety was intentionally curated to cater to diverse tastes, and Art City Trolley Restaurant proved to be an excellent partner in this endeavor.

The Music

As the music began, a curated playlist created in collaboration with friends and loved by my mom set the tone for the evening. Our first dance was a unique blend of two songs and styles at the time, my then-fiancé had cleverly combined two tracks, allowing me to share a special moment with my dad before seamlessly transitioning into our first dance as a couple.

I took the floor with my dad to Heartland’s ‘I Loved Her First,’ and after a brief handoff from him, Devin, and eventually my husband, we swayed to Sister Hazel’s ‘This Kind of Love.’

Advice For Other Couples

One of my top recommendations for newlyweds-to-be is to separate their wedding ceremony and reception, allowing them to enjoy a stress-free celebration. In our case, we decided to have the reception on the night before our actual wedding date, followed by the ceremony the next morning. This strategic timing gave us the entire day to prepare and set up the reception, ensuring everything was perfect down to the last detail.

The following afternoon, we were able to depart for our honeymoon without worrying about the evening’s festivities, allowing us to truly focus on each other as a newly married couple. It was an absolute delight to tie the knot and immediately embark on this new chapter together.
