With my September wedding just around the corner, I found myself enamored with the vibrant pastel hues that spring has to offer. As a result, I opted for a mixed palette featuring greens, pinks, yellows, and whites. The setting of our special day – a stunning glass house nestled among lush gardens – naturally led us to choose an English Country Garden theme, complete with floral arrangements that would bring the beauty of the outdoors in.

From the moment we stumbled upon Victoria’s work online, we were impressed by her unique blend of formal and informal photography styles. Her website showcased a keen eye for capturing life’s candid moments as well as its more traditional aspects. When we finally met with Victoria in person, we found her to be warm, friendly, and genuinely enthusiastic about our special day.

This initial meeting alleviated any concerns we may have had about her approach, as we sensed that she would strike the perfect balance between capturing our most intimate moments and respecting our privacy.

Following the ceremony, we treated our guests to a delightful spread of Prosecco and canapés in Abbeywood’s picturesque gardens. The atmosphere was lively as everyone mingled and savored the flavors. Next, we transitioned to a formal, three-course sit-down meal expertly prepared by Stables Cuisine for our evening reception, we opted for a more relaxed approach with informal bacon and sausage sandwiches served to our guests.

To satisfy their sweet tooth, we presented a stunning, three-tier fruitcake – a labor of love crafted by yours truly (the bride) and my loving mother.

As you embark on this once-in-a-lifetime experience, allow yourself to revel in the joy of wedding planning without getting bogged down by minute particulars; instead, take a proactive approach to gather inspiration from various sources – flip through wedding magazines and scour the internet (including Pinterest) to get a sense of your preferred color palette, floral arrangements, decorations, and overall aesthetic. This will serve as a guiding light for your special day.

From a practical perspective, prioritize tackling the biggest expenses first (venue, dress, catering, etc), then allocate what’s left in your budget towards the smaller details that can still be tailored to fit your unique style.

As the wedding day unfolds, it’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of activity and lose track of time. But for me, some moments stand out as particularly special – like watching all the little details we’d carefully planned over the past year come together seamlessly. The flowers, in particular, were a highlight; there’s something truly magical about seeing your vision take shape.

Another moment that holds a special place in my heart is slipping into my wedding dress for the first time and feeling like I’m on cloud nine – it’s as if all the excitement and anticipation leading up to this day finally culminates in one perfect, unforgettable moment. And of course, taking a quiet drive with your new spouse after the ceremony, just the two of you, is a lovely way to process everything that’s happened.

It’s a chance to slow down, take it all in, and savor the feeling of being newly married. Looking back on those early days as a married couple, I’m grateful for moments like these – they’re what make the experience so unforgettable. Abbeywood Estate’s picturesque gardens provided the perfect backdrop for Jen and Iain’s floral-themed celebration. The venue’s versatility is truly impressive, and it’s easy to see why couples would want to mark their special day there.
