I was thrilled when London-based photographer Dasha Caffrey shared these stunning photos of Lorna and Mathew’s English countryside wedding with me. The couple, who had been together for 13 years before exchanging vows, exchanged rings in a picturesque setting surrounded by lush florals, their closest friends and family members cheering them on with glasses raised in toasts of Prosecco and Peroni.
Lorna looked breathtakingly beautiful in her fitted lace gown with delicate cap sleeves and a chic bow sash, while Mathew and his groomsmen donned traditional tailcoats and cravats that exuded classic elegance. The bridesmaids, dressed in pale pink full-length gowns, carried bouquets that left me weak-kneed. This serene and sophisticated celebration serves as a beautiful reminder that good things often come to those who wait.
From The Bride…
After 13 years together, we envisioned a wedding that would be truly unforgettable. From the outset, we prioritized what matters most to us: family, friends, beautiful blooms, delectable cuisine, enchanting melodies, and joyful revelry – and our special day did not disappoint. Matthew’s Parisian proposal set the tone for incorporating French flair into our celebration (we incorporated Parisian district table names, French cheeses, and macarons – a delightful touch).
Our elegant springtime wedding featured subtle English Countryside undertones, with a color palette that blended soft peach hues with pops of coral. The day unfolded with effortless ease, leaving neither us nor our guests to stop beaming. Following the previous day’s rainstorms, the sun broke through the clouds, casting a warm glow and setting everyone at ease.
As the night wore on, our party only intensified – my 91-year-old grandmother even led the charge on the dance floor, demonstrating that age is just a number when it comes to having a good time.
The Venue & Vendors
Upon entering Ham Polo Club, we instantly sensed that it was an ideal setting for our special day – refined yet effortlessly relaxed. We also made a conscious effort to incorporate local suppliers wherever possible, discovering hidden gems in Fairynuff Flowers, Teddington Cheese, and the incredibly talented caricaturist David Lewis. Meanwhile, my mum and sister proved to be invaluable assets during the planning process, offering sage advice and joining me for crucial appointments and fittings.
Advice For Other Couples
As you prepare for your special day, remember to take a deep breath and enjoy every moment – not just the ceremony itself, but the planning, prep, and build-up too. It’s easy to get caught up in stressing over the smallest details, but don’t let that overshadow what matters most: celebrating with loved ones. Remember, it’s about you, your partner, and the people who matter most to you.
For inspiration, I turned to trusted sources like ‘Style Me Pretty’, ‘Rock My Wedding’, as well as curated finds from Not On The High Street.
