The Inspiration
With a focus on rustic charm, vibrant hues, and an organic vibe, we crafted a wedding theme that reflected our personal style Our chosen venue, nestled in the heart of Athens, surprised us with its island-like atmosphere, stunning views, and unique aesthetic – making it the perfect setting for our special day.
The Ceremony
As the celebration unfolded, we invited our dear friends to join in on the musical magic by performing Oasis’s iconic hit ‘Let There Be Love’ The infectious energy was palpable as our guests eagerly sang along, further solidifying the sense of community and joy that permeated the air Following this heartfelt performance, we took a tender moment to exchange our heartfelt vows, marking another milestone in our journey together.
In a symbolic gesture, we also planted a love tree, its roots digging deep into the soil as ours do into each other’s hearts To conclude the ceremony, we sealed a treasure trove of love letters – a collection of sentiments and promises meant for each other to discover on future special occasions Alongside these tender tokens, we placed a champagne bottle, awaiting the perfect moment to pop the cork and toast our enduring love.
The Attire
In a deliberate departure from traditional wedding attire, we made a conscious decision to prioritize comfort and authenticity Our choice of outfit was deeply personal, reflecting who we are as individuals For our bridal party, we selected a unifying theme that tied everything together – the warm, earthy tone of pistachio.
This unique hue was incorporated into the bridesmaids’ dresses and groomsmen’s bow ties, creating a visually cohesive and stylish look that perfectly captured the essence of our special day.
The Music
The musical choices for our special day were carefully curated to evoke the perfect blend of romance and whimsy The processional was set in motion with Patrick Watson’s ‘Close to Paradise’, its soaring melody and introspective lyrics setting the tone for a truly unforgettable experience As we exchanged our vows, the recessional was accompanied by the infectious energy of I’m from Barcelona’s ‘We are from Barcelona’, its upbeat tempo and joyful vibe leaving us beaming with happiness.
And as we took to the dance floor for our first waltz as husband and wife, Extreme’s ‘More than Words’ serenaded us with its tender balladry, its sweet sentiments speaking directly to our hearts.
The Refreshments
To create a relaxed and airy atmosphere at our special day, we opted for an assortment of refreshing beverages, featuring strawberry and homemade mint lemonade as the star attractions The ceremony itself took on a unique form, with various food stations and live cooking demonstrations adding to the lively ambiance.
Meanwhile, our wedding cake was a masterclass in contrasts – with rich, velvety chocolate at its core, paired with a creamy vanilla frosting infused with cheese notes, and adorned with both traditional white and playful gold leaf accents, as well as a bare, unadorned section that added an element of whimsy to the overall design.
The Decor & Details
Our lawn games station was a highlight of the decor, featuring DIY ring toss, ladder golf, and croquet stations To add to the whimsy, we incorporated lush foliage and greenery throughout our decorations, including on the cake, lanterns, and seating chart For a more rustic feel, we chose wooden tables and chairs over formal ones, and opted for vintage containers filled with multicolored flowers as centerpieces Each guest received a lovely boutonniere placed on their plate.
Our table settings were completed with gold cutlery, vintage glassware, and green goblets for a touch of elegance To create a vibrant and playful atmosphere, we selected bright and colorful flowers, paired with smaller filler blooms that gave the impression of hand-picked bouquets.
