We’re thrilled to share the extraordinary destination wedding of Sama and Mo, a stylish Kuwait-based couple who pulled off an unforgettable celebration in just four months. The connection between Sama and our own Elizabeth goes back a few years, when they met at another friend’s wedding – and it’s no surprise that their photos by Jeremy Standley Photography are as stunning as they are.
This power couple’s checklist of wedding awesomeness is truly impressive: a historic mansion in Barcelona for the setting; an ultra-creative photographer and planner, Carole Bipot from Marry Me In Spain, to bring it all together; Mo, looking dashing in his Giorgio Armani suit with an ear-to-ear smile – you guessed it – check. The couple’s unique emerald and coral color palette, retro touches, and abundance of beautiful paper elements in both English and Arabic script.
Another check off the list, and let’s not forget Sama, radiant in her Jesus Perio lace wedding dress with a pearl-adorned halo braid, rocking lime green Christian Dior heels during the day and hi-top sneakers on the dance floor – a resounding double, triple, heck yeah check.

The Theme & Colour Palette
Our celebration’s nostalgic charm was expertly woven throughout every detail. Rather than adhering to traditional formalities, we aimed to inject a playful twist. The wedding invitation doubled as a survival kit, featuring a vintage movie poster of the happy couple, setting the tone for a whimsical affair. A VW bug served as our wedding car, while a talented jazz band kept the party going with reimagined hits like a bossa nova rendition of Billie Jean.
Guests were invited to leave their mark in a vintage mailbox filled with Barcelona postcards, serving as a unique and memorable guestbook. Our color palette was a vibrant blend of emerald green and coral, adding an extra layer of sophistication to the overall aesthetic.
The Ceremony
As I reflect on the wisdom imparted by my mother and father-in-law, I’m reminded of their insightful advice on fostering successful marriages and cultivating love. My mother’s heartfelt speech in Arabic left everyone emotionally moved, particularly when she shared a poignant anecdote from my late grandfather. His words, ‘let your love be the key that sets you free, not something that shackles you,’ resonated deeply with our audience.
The quote’s impact was so profound that it inspired my friends to create a viral meme, which quickly spread across Instagram and WhatsApp.
The Photography
Our photographer, Jeremy, was a perfect match for us in terms of his approach to capturing special moments. In fact, we only spent around five minutes on posed photography, as we wanted to focus on capturing the authentic moments that unfolded naturally throughout our wedding day. We both appreciated Jeremy’s ability to seamlessly capture these moments without disrupting the flow of events.
As romantics at heart, we were thrilled with the beautiful, candid shots he produced, which often caught us off guard and felt like a true reflection of our special day.
Favourite Moments
As fate would have it, my friend’s forgetfulness proved to be a blessing in disguise. With his arrival delayed by a day, he rolled into our wedding celebration at 12 am after traveling from San Francisco. Despite the unconventional timing, we welcomed him with open arms and partied through the night. The dance floor became a sea of laughter and joy as we collectively lost ourselves in the music, showcasing some of our most ‘us-like’ dance moves.
