Our Love Story
Our paths crossed during our time at university, where he was a senior, on the cusp of graduation, while I was still a junior, just starting to navigate my academic journey. Fast forward eight years later, and we had taken the next step in our relationship – exchanging vows and becoming husband and wife.
The Flowers
To create a rustic yet elegant ambiance, we opted for a minimalist approach to our flower budget. Instead of going all out with elaborate arrangements, we simply ordered a bouquet that echoed the beauty of a wildflower arrangement. This subtle touch added a charming, understated elegance to our celebration. For the ceremony and dinner, we took it a step further by incorporating fresh wildflowers from the estate itself. The result was a seamless blend of natural beauty and refined simplicity.
The Ceremony
The ceremony took place in the serene birch wood setting, where we kept things simple and intimate to connect with nature. The priest’s personal touch made the entire experience truly special, as she sang with remarkable beauty. What’s more, our priest helped us secure two talented musicians who brought a unique flavor to the occasion by playing the rare and enchanting nyckelharpa.
As guests arrived, they were treated to a familiar yet nostalgic tune, Astrid Lindgren’s beloved Idas Sommarvisa, a classic Swedish childhood song that added to the ceremony’s emotional resonance.
The Photography
We wanted our wedding memories to be unique and artistic, with breathtaking photos that would stand out from the ordinary. Nordica Photography immediately caught our attention with their stunning work. From the initial contact, they impressed us with their professionalism and natural approach to photography. Despite being camera-shy ourselves, we felt at ease working with Cole, a talented photographer from Nordica.
We decided to schedule our photo shoot during dinner, allowing guests to enjoy the party while we stole away for some romantic moments. The late Swedish sun added a warm glow to our photos, making it an ideal time for us to relax and cherish each other’s company. We were mindful of the time constraints, not wanting to miss any of the celebration, but the photo shoot turned out to be a perfect opportunity for us to reconnect and absorb all the emotions and excitement.
Seeing the final photos now, we’re thrilled with our choice and grateful that the experience felt so natural and right. It was bittersweet saying goodbye to Cole after three wonderful days – we’re truly thankful to have found Nordica Photography and their exceptional work.
The Budget
To minimize costs, we opted for a mix of thrifted finds and DIY endeavors. Locally sourced items from Bangkok and second-hand shops in Stockholm and its surroundings helped reduce expenses. We also took advantage of tailored attire and created our own wedding website to cut costs further. However, we did splurge on food, drinks, and photography, recognizing their importance in capturing the essence of our special day.
