We’re thrilled to share the story of Lauren & Cory, a couple who not only brought us their stunning wedding but also offered practical advice on how to plan a beautiful and budget-friendly celebration. Their intimate Southern soiree in McKinney, Texas, was captured by Kristine & Scott of Blue Elephant Photography. The couple’s big day mixed urban chic with glamorous style, luxurious florals, and rustic details at the picturesque venue, Gather.
Lauren shone in her lace strapless gown, complemented by sparkling jewelry and a breathtaking bouquet, while Cory looked dashing in his grey suit and dickie bow. As the night unfolded, their love shone bright – just like their special moment when they danced together, surrounded by the sounds of their favorite song, with no one else around. It’s a truly romantic and unforgettable experience that we can’t get enough of.

The Inspiration
I’ve always been enamored with the charm of a Southern soiree, where close friends and loved ones gather in an intimate setting. As a nature lover, I had a vision for our special day that centered around the beauty of flowers and lush greens. The vibrant hues of our blooms perfectly complemented the rustic charm of the venue’s brickwork, chandeliers, and the navy blue of the bridesmaids’ dresses.
With a carefree approach to wedding planning, we opted for an eclectic color palette featuring navy for the ladies and grey for the gentlemen, with strategic pops of gold to add a touch of sophistication.
Advice for Other Couples
When considering purchases for my wedding, I found myself constantly asking three crucial questions: Is it truly necessary? Will I reuse or repurpose it in the future? And most importantly, is it a memory worth creating For instance, splurging on $1,000 Jimmy Choo shoes just to match the dress wouldn’t be justified, as I’d likely trip and fall anyway. Similarly, I wouldn’t spend lavishly on decor and accessories only to display them once and forget.
The thought of wasting money on something that would collect dust is unsettling. On the other hand, it’s easy to get caught up in societal pressures and conform to what others do, but at the end of the day, who cares about their opinions? If you don’t want something or feel uncomfortable doing it, then it’s okay to say no. It’s essential to prioritize your own desires and values over external expectations.
What Made Our Wedding So ‘Us’
We sought an atmosphere that was low-key yet festive, where we could share the moment with loved ones, savoring each other’s company, a perfectly crafted cocktail, and the rhythmic beats of great music.
The Photography
Kristine and Scott, a dynamic duo of photographers, captured the magic of my friends’ special day with precision and finesse. Their natural approach to photography, relying on the warmth of sunlight rather than artificial lighting, resulted in breathtaking images that will be treasured for years to come.
As I reflected on our previous encounter during the engagement photo shoot, I felt like we were picking up where we left off – a seamless transition made possible by their exceptional teamwork and professionalism as a husband-and-wife photography team.
