Classic Elegance, A Beautiful Flower-Filled English Wedding

The picturesque Somerset countryside provided the idyllic backdrop for Charlotte and Oliver’s elegant white country house wedding. The stunning Ria Mishaal Photography captured the day’s every detail with finesse, blending classic refinement with playful touches. The scene was set with Charlotte’s statement ballgown, her bridesmaids in crisp white, and the gents looking dashing in their tails.

Amidst the lush greenery, organic white blooms and pale blue accents added a touch of sophistication, while tall candlesticks brought warmth to the grand setting. To make the day truly unforgettable, a lively band kept the party going, family-style dining encouraged mingling, local ales flowed freely, and a classic British rom-com played in the background, adding to the whimsical atmosphere. As Charlotte herself put it, ‘It’s a big deal’ – and we couldn’t agree more.

A quintessential country weekend unfolded like a page from an Agatha Christie novel, minus the murder mystery. Instead, intimate garden parties, Pimm’s and Champagne flowed freely, accompanied by lively board games. The setting was idyllic, with fresh modern decor featuring white, green, and powder blue hues that perfectly captured the essence of the occasion.

I deliberately kept the theme understated, avoiding the trappings of a birthday party or costume affair to preserve the air of sophistication. The goal was to create an atmosphere reminiscent of a wedding, making the celebration feel truly momentous.

The wedding bouquet was a charmingly effortless arrangement that exuded a sense of natural elegance. Its loose, trailing design was comprised of a variety of flowers including white anemones, spray roses, hydrangea, astrantia, Nigella, Veronica, ‘Patience’ David Austin roses, lisianthus, and jasmine, all tied together with twine to create a whimsical, hand-picked effect. The stems were adorned with wispy foliage that added texture and depth to the overall design.

In contrast, the buttonholes were more structured yet still retained an air of informality. The groom’s buttonhole featured a single white rose, while the ushers and best man all wore powder blue hydrangea florets paired with sprigs of white heather, silver begonia leaves, and wild herbs. Finishing touches included twine wrapping around each arrangement, giving them a rustic, homespun charm.

As the evening unfolded, a lively atmosphere prevailed as friends and loved ones mingled with the groom and his entourage in the bar. In the background, Four Weddings and a Funeral provided a subtle soundtrack on various screens, adding to the warm ambiance. The night before the wedding, we hosted an unforgettable hog roast in the picturesque walled garden at Babington House, setting the tone for a truly special celebration.

To cater to diverse tastes and preferences, we offered a carefully curated selection of ale, champagne, and family-style dining, ensuring that all guests enjoyed a simultaneous dining experience.

As the ceremony came to a close, the atmosphere was elevated by the classic tones of a traditional church organ, providing a timeless and elegant backdrop for the celebration. The festivities continued with Miss Cherry Bomb, a sultry vintage singer who brought her unique style and charm to our Champagne reception.

As the evening wore on, we were treated to an unforgettable performance by Blue Harlem, a talented five-piece swing band that kept the party going late into the night at the subsequent reception.
