Our Wedding
From the onset of our wedding planning, I made it clear that I didn’t want a themed celebration. Instead, I sought to infuse my big day with personal touches and avoid any overtly coordinated elements. My overarching aspiration was to create a wedding atmosphere that exuded elegance, vibrancy, and an effortless charm – qualities that would remain timeless and classic.
To achieve this aesthetic, I focused on a colour palette featuring soft pinks, blush tones, creamy hues, and crisp whites, which collectively evoked a sense of whimsy and sophistication.
The Attire
My wedding dress was not exactly what I envisioned, but it turned out to be a beautiful surprise. My dad actually picked it out for me at the bridal store. The embroidered flowers and vines on the bodice added a touch of sparkle with beading, while the lightweight chiffon fabric gave the skirt a romantic, floaty quality. I also had the neckline modified to a sweetheart style, which really made the dress pop.
The Ceremony
As I exchanged vows with my partner, I was accompanied by my dad down the aisle, serenaded by a friend’s piano rendition of “You Are My Sunshine” – a song that held sentimental value as it was my dad’s go-to tune when singing to me during childhood. This thoughtful gesture added a personal touch to our ceremony.
In addition, we invited friends to read aloud Romans 12:6-16 and Ephesians 5:25-30, which Stephen and I felt beautifully captured the essence of our union and our shared journey with God.
The Photography
Layne’s photography skills are only surpassed by her warm and approachable personality. When we first connected online, it felt like I was reuniting with an old friend or kindred spirit. Her expertise shone through when she took our engagement pictures, capturing the moments exactly as I had envisioned them. Despite our initial reservations – neither Steven nor I are naturally photogenic – Layne’s professionalism and ease put us at ease.
Her organizational skills and creative ideas made the entire experience a breeze. She even managed to tame the chaos of our family photos on the wedding day, leaving us feeling grateful and relieved.
The Refreshments
The evening’s culinary highlight was a delectable buffet dinner, boasting an array of mouth-watering options including succulent chicken and tender beef, accompanied by an assortment of delicious fixings. Although we didn’t get to partake in the feast ourselves, our friends’ glowing reviews still echo in our ears. Meanwhile, our exquisite cake was lovingly crafted by my dear childhood friend and bridesmaid.
I had requested a simple yet visually stunning design, which she expertly executed with her artistic touch.
