I’m thrilled to be sharing this behind-the-scenes peek at my time in Barcelona, where I had the privilege of attending the 25th anniversary of Barcelona Bridal Week alongside an inspiring group of wedding bloggers. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the stunning backstage photos – it’s a veritable treasure trove of wedding dress inspiration.
As part of this esteemed group, I had the pleasure of connecting with fellow bloggers Julia from Brides Up North, Yolande of Yolande De Vries Photography, Jen from Green Wedding Shoes, Ally from Inspired By This (and, of course, myself), and Lindsay from Fly Away Bride. Each of these talented ladies brings a unique perspective to their respective blogs. I highly recommend exploring their websites if you haven’t already.
In this clip, you’ll get a glimpse into our ‘blogger’s-eye view’ of Barcelona Bridal Week, and as an added bonus, the featured thumbnail showcases us enjoying some well-deserved champagne and celebrating in style – it’s definitely a highlight reel-worthy moment.
My Barcelona Bridal Week Diary
My mornings at Hotel Catedral’s modern boutique hotel in Barcelona’s Gothic quarter began with a delightful à la carte breakfast. This charming hotel proved to be an excellent choice for a romantic getaway, and I highly recommend it to couples seeking a memorable city break experience. Following breakfast, we’d make our way to the Fira De Barcelona, a massive exhibition center that played host to breathtaking displays of wedding dresses on its dynamic catwalk.
It was thrilling to witness one stunning collection after another as they came alive before our eyes.
Glam Barcelona Evenings
As we settled into our evening in Barcelona, we stumbled upon the exquisite Bistro restaurant within the opulent Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The hotel’s stylish facade extended to its every nook, from the gleaming rooftop swimming pool to the serenely scented Mimosa Garden. Our attention was particularly piqued by the dimly lit Banker’s Bar, where clever nods to the property’s past as a bank were woven throughout – including security deposit boxes now serving as drink containers.
We indulged in specially crafted cocktails, each one accompanied by a key that unlocked our drinks from the very same boxes. Though we didn’t have the luxury of exploring their award-winning spa during our stay, it provided us with a tantalizing excuse to return and experience all the hotel’s delights.
All Dressed Up
As I prepared to bid farewell to Barcelona, I had the pleasure of donning a one-of-a-kind black lace midi dress from Katya Katya Shehurina’s breathtaking AW2016 collection, courtesy of the accommodating team at London’s flagship boutique in Soho. The experience was nothing short of enchanting, as I felt like a true princess in my flowing, lace-adorned gown. The intricate eyelash lace that adorned the neckline, sleeves, and hem left me utterly captivated.
I must admit that capturing the essence of this stunning dress proved to be a challenge, but I hope that these snapshots provide a glimpse into its beauty. The London boutique’s light-filled atmosphere is truly inspiring, don’t you agree? And who knows, maybe one day I’ll master the art of posing like a fashion blogger – but for now, let’s just say it was an adventure in itself.
However, rest assured that we will be sharing Katya Katya Shehurina’s full bridal collection with you on Bridal Musings very soon, featuring this same exquisite gown in a radiant white hue perfect for the big day.
A Magical Last Evening in Barcelona
As we entered the Catalan National Art Museum on a warm evening, we were immediately struck by its stunning beauty. The museum’s grand facade was bathed in a golden glow, welcoming over two thousand fashion and wedding enthusiasts, celebrities, and industry professionals to an unforgettable experience. We were among the glamorous crowd that filled the palatial museum, our senses heightened as we awaited the highly anticipated Pronovias catwalk show.
Upon entering the majestic Oval Room, we were left breathless by its breathtaking grandeur. The high ceilings, sparkling chandeliers, and gleaming catwalk set the tone for an evening of unadulterated magic. Supermodel Irina Shayk took center stage, opening and closing the show with a show-stopping performance that left us all in awe. The early moments of the catwalk show were nothing short of enchanting.
Needless to say, it was clear that an immense amount of hard work went into crafting each collection, as well as the entire Barcelona Bridal Week event. We felt truly honored to be a part of this extraordinary experience. Special thanks go out to everyone who made my stay in Barcelona so unforgettable, including fellow bloggers Claudia and her team from XXL Communication, and the wonderful organizers behind Barcelona Bridal Week.
