The Attire
Rachela’s wedding attire was a surprise to herself, as she initially envisioned a vibrant dress, only to fall in love with a stunning white mermaid-style gown featuring a romantic lace train adorned with Swarovski crystals. The unconventional choice didn’t stop there – she opted for glittered open-toe shoes from Yoox, seeking something more than the traditional bridal footwear.
To complete her look, Rachela decided on a high bun adorned with a fresh Lisianthus flower and finished off the ensemble with her mom’s elegant earrings. Luca, too, sought to defy convention in his attire choice, selecting a Daniele Alessandrini suit comprising a jacquard gilet and jacket paired with blue trousers. A crisp white shirt and black varnished shoes rounded out his look, which he chose to keep simple by forgoing a tie or bow tie in favor of a sleek black gold necklace.
The result was an effortlessly elegant yet non-traditional appearance that perfectly captured Luca’s unique style.
The Inspiration
As we exchanged vows, our love story was set against the backdrop of a whimsical, yet sophisticated celebration – a book-themed wedding that shone with a perfect blend of sparkle, fun, and elegance. Our color palette, reminiscent of cyclamen flowers, featured soft pinks and whites as the primary hues, subtly accented by a dash of green for added depth and visual interest.
The Decor & Details
As bibliophiles, we naturally chose a book-themed wedding to celebrate our shared passion for reading. For us, a book represents an invitation to embark on a new journey together – a journey that we were eager to begin. To reflect the whimsical and colorful atmosphere we envisioned, SposiAmo crafted elegant floral centrepieces featuring vintage small cups and silver pitchers filled with flowers.
We complemented this with white candles, vintage books, and Scrabble letters used to name our tables – each one inspired by our favourite novels. The bride took it upon herself to create personalized rice bags, filling them with confetti made from book pages and mixed with rice. This thoughtful touch added a personal flourish to the proceedings.
Naturally, we chose books as gifts for our guests – not just any books, but carefully curated selections that had taken four months to assemble at old markets. We relished the process of surprising our loved ones with these unique presents, and they seemed to enjoy it just as much, having the option to choose their own favourite from the 2 hundred-strong bookcase we used as a table plan.
Favourite Moments
As we reminisce about our special occasion, one moment that stands out in particular is the cake cutting ceremony. The atmosphere was electric when Cesare Cremonini’s soulful rendition of ‘La Stella di Broadway’ filled the air. What made this moment truly unforgettable was when our guests joined us in singing along to the song. The collective energy and emotion were palpable, making it a powerful and heartfelt experience that we’ll always treasure.
